COP 18, 2012: IGU side event, Doha, Qatar
Natural Gas for a Global Sustainable Energy Future
Following the successful symposiums in previous years, IGU organised a site event in connection with COP 18 in Doha.
This site event under the headline “Natural Gas for a Global Sustainable Energy Future” covered the topic of how natural gas can contribute to mitigating climate change. In addition it also touched upon the important question of how the enhanced use of natural gas can accelerate access to energy for those in need.
As the most environmentally friendly fossil fuel, natural gas can make a major contribution to both wider access to energy and a sustainable energy future in line with UN targets.
International organisations and representatives of the energy industry presented their views and participated in the discussion.
