SG 2.2 Techniques and new opportunities

Scope and purposes

The objective of this group is to promote and share techniques within storage community in order to continually enhance performance and efficiency of storage facilities thus meeting the market demand and safety and environmental standards.  Several topics related to storage performance modeling, storage integrity management, asset management, increased automatization or new techniques for efficiency increase or environmental footprint reduction will be elaborated focusing on new achievements in the particular fields.

Moreover, new opportunities for storages, which are on horizon and support further integration of natural gas with renewables and sustainable development, will be defined and contribution of storages further elaborated. Taking this fact into account, quality standards of gas injected into the storage might be one of issues to be addressed.  As natural gas represents energy and contrary to other sources of energy, gas can be stored and storage might fulfil additional role than its traditional balancing or security of supply role.
