GasNaturally
GasNaturally aims to showcase the essential role of natural gas in the energy system’s forthcoming transformation. The mitigation of climate change has become one of the most important issues for the gas industry.
Nevertheless, much policy debate so far in the EU has failed to give a level of attention to natural gas proportionate to its potential role and scale of its potential benefits towards the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.
This initiative intends to feed the debate with factual information and data about the benefits of natural gas in a long-term, sustainable energy mix. It seeks to help policy makers formulate a clear vision on how to face the challenges ahead, taking account of natural gas as a safe, secure and reliable energy source.
GasNaturally brings together six organisations within the gas industry:
- EUROGAS
EUROGAS is the association representing the European gas wholesale, retail and distribution sectors. Founded in 1990, its members are 45 companies and associations from 25 countries.
- European Gas Research Group (GERG)
GERG, the European Gas Research Group, is a research and development organisation with a unique role in Europe, in that it provides both support and stimulus for the technological innovation necessary to ensure that the European gas industry can rise to meet the technological challenges of the new century
- Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE)
GIE is the European association representing the interests of natural gas infrastructure operators active in natural gas transmission, storage and LNG regasification.
Its internal structure has three columns corresponding to the types of infrastructure activities represented, i.e. GTE (Gas Transmission Europe), GSE (Gas Storage Europe) and GLE (Gas LNG Europe). GIE currently represents 70 member companies from 25 countries
- International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP)
IOGP encompasses most of the world’s leading publicly-traded, private and state-owned oil and gas companies, oil and gas associations and major upstream service companies. OGP members produce about one third of the world’s gas.
- Marcogaz
Marcogaz aims at monitoring and taking influence when needed on European technical regulation, standardisation and certification with respect to environment, health & safety and integrity of gas systems and equipment
- International Gas Union (IGU)
- IGU and GasNaturally
As one of the six organisations in GN, IGU have an agreement with the other five associations regarding a Joint Gas Advocacy Programme with renewal each year. Yearly fee for IGU in 2015 is € 30.000. Communication agency for the joint programme is Fleishman Hillard S.A.
