PGC C: Gas markets

PGC C is drawing lessons from which security for gas supply and demand can be enhanced aiming at the development of gas markets in Northeast and Southeast Asia, North America, Europe and Russia.

Purpose and scope

PGC C is focused on topics pertaining to the development of mature and new markets, such as the promotion of international integration, harmonization of rules across national boundaries and security of energy supply, including supply from non-conventional sources and environmental issues.

Guided by the four Strategic Guidelines for the 2009-2012 Triennium, PGC-C is working closely with other IGU committees to develop analyses on a number of different topics:

Facilitation for the development of new, developing and mature gas markets;
Natural gas sourcing;
Infrastructure (gas storage, funding);
Market and economic drivers;
Competing fuels;
Legal and regulatory aspects;
Business opportunities (e.g. power generation);
Environmental issues (climate change);
Geopolitics.

Study groups

The Committee has organised three study groups for the current IGU triennium (access restricted to IGU members):

Study Group C.1: ASEAN+4

Study Group C.2: North America

Study Group C.3: Europe and Russia

External advisors

External advisors with varied backgrounds have been nominated to produce suggestions and criticism to the production of the group.
