5. A Utilisation of gas:
Today’s challenges?
Objectives: The speakers are requested
to submit papers that discuss the present
situation of the gas utilisation in
relation with the current market changes:
development of LNG and in general multiplication/diversification
of supply sources (including biogas),
decrease of heat demand, high conscience
on global warming, liberalisation and
globalisation of the gas industry, etc.
Special focus should be given to:
- Gas quality challenges
- Reduction of greenhouse effects
(efficiency, combustion technology,
gas cleaning)
- Emergence of hydrogen and biogas
- Selling energy services in complement
to selling gas?
- Energy efficiency, best practices
- Cost of gas infrastructure and
maintenance in areas where the gas
sales decreases
- Standardisation in support of technology
integration
Key words: Gas quality - Hydrogen
- Energy service - Green house
5. B Domestic and commercial
sector: What are the products for tomorrow?
Objectives: For this session, the speakers
are requested to submit papers that
bring solutions and examples of how
natural gas can compete against other
energies on the present decreasing markets
(in many countries) and propose sustainable
and economically competitive products
to the customers. Both existing applications
(heating, cooking etc.) and new applications
(cooling, power production, etc.) are
to be considered.
Special focus should be given to new
efficient technologies like:
- Heat and power generation (micro-cogeneration,
tri-generation)
- Combination of renewables with
gas (solar, biogas)
- Development of gas heat pumps and
gas air conditioning
Note that the technological aspect
as such shall not be treated extensively
in the papers. Aspects like implementation
of technologies, case studies, economical
assessments, CO2 and efficiency impact
of natural gas technologies, among others,
will be prioritised.
Key words: Efficiency - CO2 emission
- µCHP – Renewables –
Hybrid - New applications - Heat pump
5. C Industrial sector: What
are the products for tomorrow?
Objectives: For this session, the speakers
are requested to submit papers covering
the following topics:
- CHP use in the industry
- Natural gas as a tool for integration
of renewable energy (wind/hydrogen,
biogas)
- Rational Use of Energy/Energy savings
- Processes
The topics can be treated as case studies,
example of technical developments, impact
of gas technologies, etc. They should
cover one or many aspects among technical,
regulatory, marketing or economical
issues
Key Words: CHP – Hydrogen –
Renewables - Rational energy use - Technology
5. D NGV sector: Methane -
a global eco-efficient mobility solution
1. Objectives: For this session, the
speakers are requested to submit papers
that discuss the topics listed below.
These will be discussed both at the
WOC5 sessions and at the special session
organised by IANGV (International Association
for Natural Gas Vehicles).
- Methane for transport - real life
experience: everyday life experience,
experience in daily operation, safety
issues, costs, comfort for user/operator,
incentives, positive role undertaken
by gas companies etc
- Off-road applications – strategies
and range of possibilities: trains,
tractors, forklifts, snow and ice
resurfacing, marine applications,
port applications, airports, airplanes
etc
- NGV technology breakthrough: efficient
methane gas vehicles, hybrids, bio-methane
+, methane storage, filling
- Methane corridors: gas quality,
blue corridors development, methane-to-hydrogen
fuelling station pathway: linkages
between natural gas, methane and hydrogen
for the future
- Role of vehicle manufacturers in
the NGV market development
Key Words: NGV, CNG, blue corridor,
case study, methane, bio-methane, hydrogen,
off-road
